treasure chest.

I remember watching

Your tears fall

Down your face

Every time a lover left

Slamming the door

Breaking dishes

Smashing your heart

I walked into your room

Bringing to you my treasure chest:

An invisible box,

Containing imaginary hearts

Made of gold.

I would crawl onto your bed

Sink into the flood of tears

And unlock it

I would reach out my hand

And take your old shattered heart’s pieces

And give you mine

And over

Until my chest was empty.
