simpleton.

Why do we, as Children of God, make life so much more complicated than it needs to be? We know God as provider. The One who will never let us go without a roof over our head. We can trust Him to keep us always in His hands. We know that He is for us. We know that He is good and will walk us through trials. But sometimes, in our search for the will of God, we lose sight of our Jesus. I am in constant pursuit of pleasing God–and this is not a boast or compliment of myself. I want to earn brownie points with my God because I love him. I want to be able to show Him I love him…so, as I often do to the people I love, instead of sitting and basking in the blessing of just being with Him, I run around with the weight of busyness on my shoulders, glancing over my shoulder every now and again to make sure God is watching and pleased, like a little girl sticking her head out from behind the curtain of her ballet recital.

God never promises that when we seek him with all our heart, we will find his will…He promises that, when we seek Him with our whole heart, well, we just find Him. and he instructs Jeremiah directly prior to this verse in the fact that He knows the plans.

I don’t want the will of God to be my idol. I am tired, weary, and drained of seeking out the will of God, I am running fast towards the prize of the will of God…and this is not the life God calls us into. His will is simple, Love Him and love others.

Dear Children of God: keep it simple.

for our God is a simple God.
